If you own a satellite system or have Cable, the answer is of course. Did you know that their are literally hundreds of American and other foreign television channels that are purposely made "unavailable" to you by the Canadian Goverment and CRTC? Do you own a small satellite system (Directv or Dish Network) or a big C-band dish? Did you know that your goverment and other parties with a vested interest (Bell Expressvu, Starchoice, Cable Companies) are attempting to make it "illegal" for you to own ANY kind of U.S. or foreign satellite system and are attempting to make it "illegal" to receive ANY foreign television transmissions that have not been approved or sanctioned by them? Did you know that they are dangerously close to making this a REALITY? Did you know that Canadian satellite companies like Bell Expressvu are ACTIVELY suing distributors of foreign satellite reception equipment? Did you know that if laws they would like to see are passed, that they would have the right to take legal action against consumers that receive foreign programming? Did you know that Bell Expressvu was first licensed to provide a Canadian Direct to Home Satellite service in 1994? Did you know that they promised to have a Canadian service operational and BROKE their promises many many times? Did you know that many Canadian satellite distributors were FORCED to sell American systems to SURVIVE? Did you know that it to Bell Expressvu over 3 years to finally give Canadians an alternative? Did you know that Bell Expressvu then SUED satellite dealers for selling american systems? That they wanted dealers to sell NOTHING for the 3 years they waited for Bell Expressvu to get operational? Did you know that the RCMP are wasting valuable man-power on protecting the financial interests of PRIVATE corporations like Bell Expressvu? Did you know that as Canadian taxpayers, YOUR tax money is being spent to try and insure that your viewing choice are limited? Did you know that the same Canadian goverment that is declaring it illegal to own or import foreign satellite equipment is allowing these "illicit Systems" to enter the country and it COLLECTING G.S.T. and Provincial Sales Tax and Duties on these "illegal" systems? Did you know the goverment has considered censoring out popular American movies from theaters and Video stores as well? Did you know that these actions are in Contervention of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms? Did you know there is something you can do about it?
Right now a group of individual including satellite dealers and concerned citizens are planning to go to court to fight for the right to watch what YOU CHOOSE in the PRIVACY OF YOUR OWN HOME. This court battle will be expensive, so they need help from all people about losing freedoms.
